随着新能源技术的快速发展，聚维酮在锂电池领域也展现出了巨大的应用潜力。它可用作锂电池正极材料的分散剂和导电材料加工助剂，主要采用工业级的聚维酮K30。在新能源电池领域，聚维酮的用量约为1GWh约用15吨。此外，聚维酮还可作为锂电池辅料碳纳米管导电剂的加工助剂，提升锂离子电池能量密度，降低粘接剂的用量，对锂离子电池能量密度有明显的提升作用。这种新型导电剂的出现，为新能源电池的发展提供了有力支持。
在能源开采领域，随着石油资源的日渐减少，三次采油技术的推进，聚维酮作为优良的助流剂（页岩抑制剂）将会日益得到广泛的应用；在天然气开采方面，聚维酮作为首选的天然气水合物抑制剂，对于天然气管道内减少结晶和阻塞的形成，起到十分重要的作用。
