Application field

1. Personal care. In hair styling products used as film agent, thickening agent, such as hair spray, hair mousse, pump spray, etc. Used as an emulsion stabilizer in cream emulsions; Used as a dispersant in hair dyes; Foam stabilizer, etc.

2. Oil and gas. Used as a hydration inhibitor. The inhibition mechanism is mainly as follows: PVP, PNVCL, VP/CL represented by vinyllactam polymer inhibitors, whose lactam rings are adsorbed on the hydrate grains through hydrogen bonds, can generate steric hindrance to inhibit the growth of hydrate grains.

3. Metallurgical industry. It is used as viscosity regulator and non-toxic quenching agent in metal quenching liquid. The mechanism of action as a quenching agent is: the organic polymer in the quenching agent is completely dissolved in water, forming a clear and homogeneous solution. The product overcomes the water cooling speed, easy to crack the workpiece and oil cooling speed is slow, quenching effect is poor and flammable. The reason why these polymers can play a role in adjusting the cooling rate of aqueous solution is that they can form a layer of molecular hydrophobic heat insulation film on the surface of the red hot workpiece through high temperature reverse solution (PAG) or water vapor evaporation (ACR, PVP), thereby reducing the heat transfer rate between the workpiece and water to achieve the effect of reducing the cooling rate.

4. Pharmaceutical industry. Used for drug sustained release, targeted drug delivery and treatment.

5. Textile materials. As a temperature-sensitive material, it is used for temperature-sensitive textiles, intelligent waterproof transparent fabrics, etc. Since the LCST of PNVCL is between the human body temperature (30-40°C), it also has potential application value in the textile field, which can be used to prepare intelligent textile materials with multiple functions such as water repellent, heat preservation, and adjustable air permeability.

6. Other uses. Because of its hydrophilic oil component and its temperature sensitive characteristics, it can be used for special paper coating. For example, VP/CL has excellent moisturizing properties and can be added to the ink as a hydrophobic agent, which can effectively avoid the printing paper from curling and deformation due to excessive water absorption. In addition, adding a small amount of VP/CL to the gloss layer of the inkjet printing medium as a binder can improve the scratch resistance of the printing medium. The copolymer has temperature-sensitive properties and is used for functional temperature sensors.
