Properties: Non-toxic, non-irritating, hygroscopic, readily soluble in water, alcohol, amines, and various other organic solvents. It has excellent solubility, film-forming properties, chemical stability, physiological inertness, adhesiveness, and complexation ability.

Product Standards: Pharmaceutical grade, cosmetic grade, industrial grade.

Specifications: Based on the polymer molecular weight and the viscosity of the aqueous solution, the K value is calculated and divided into the following models. The K value testing method is derived from the kinematic viscosity of a 1% aqueous solution.

Main Functions:

1. In CMP (Chemical Mechanical Polishing) slurry, it improves the dispersion performance of abrasive particles.

2. Reduces the surface tension of the polishing slurry, enhancing the wettability of the slurry on the wafer surface.

3. Modifies the zeta potential of the substrate surface to be polished, reducing contamination of the wafer surface by the polishing slurry.

 

Dispersion Mechanism

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), as a nonionic amphiphilic polymer, possesses both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups, which gives it good adsorption capabilities, thereby reducing the interfacial tension between two phases.

When metal oxide abrasive particles are added to a polishing solution containing PVP, the hydrophilic groups of the PVP molecules are attracted to the surface of the abrasive particles. PVP then adsorbs onto the surface of the particles and gradually forms a PVP molecular film. The steric hindrance effect of this film can overcome the attractive forces such as van der Waals forces between the particles, preventing particle agglomeration and resulting in a stable and uniform CMP polishing slurry.
