Applications:

1 Oral preparations: medicinal toothpaste, mouthwash and oral ulcer patches. They rely on mucoadhesion to prolong the action time of antibacterial and desensitizing agents.

2 Transdermal drug delivery: substrate for microneedles, topical gels and analgesic patches, improving drug skin retention and transdermal permeation performance.

3 Mucosal drug delivery: sustained-release gels for vaginal and nasal use. They extend the residence time of anti-inflammatory and antifungal drugs on mucosal surfaces and reduce liquid loss.

4 Oral formulations: film-forming excipient for orodispersible films and orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs). It chelates metal ions simultaneously to enhance drug stability and dissolution rate.

5 Medical wound dressings: matrix of antibacterial hydrogel films, which moisturize and promote wound healing, adhere closely to wounds without sticking to newly regenerated tissues.

6 Rheology stabilizer for formulations: thickens gels and suspensions to prevent delamination, improving spreadability and storage stability of finished preparations.

7 Advanced delivery carrier: coating matrix for nano-drugs and herbal extracts; backbone of sustained-release microspheres fabricated via ionic crosslinking.
